I'm not new to the health scene, but I am new to the weight training scene. I really do not want to throw undefined mass on my body just for the sake of bulking up, like those shapeless monsters who hang out at the gym all the time. So I guess my question is, how do I properly SCULPT myself so my body doesn't just gain pointless muscle mass? Is it enough to just keep myself on a cardio regiment or are there other things I can do to improve the definition of my body? Please help.

Welcome to ft! First of all, what is your current training regime? Are you male or female? For the most part, the answer to your question is: it all depends on your goal. If you simply just plan on getting more definition without mass, then follow a sound diet, 3-4x of cardio per week and sign up for FT's weight loss and definition program.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Well, I am male, 5'6", and 138 lbs. My goal is to put on lean muscle mass but I also want to really define what I am putting on. So ideally, I would like to gain 15 to 20 lbs and stay lean and hopefully, sculpted and well defined.

Cardio itself will not sculpt you as you put it. You are simply burning calories, and with the proper intake of calories on a daily basis, you will lose weight. But you will be a smaller version of what you are now. If you want to sculpt, then you need resistance training. this will define your physique the way you want. Without an abundance of calories, you will not be putting on "useless" muscle as you call it, but defining what you have. Do rep ranges of 10-12 on everything, not too much rest between sets. Work all body parts, continue your cardio, and eat a good high protein med. carb diet. In a nutshell, this will do it. Cardio will not by itself.
