Im trying to find out what exactly contract meens in this phrase 3. Grasp a dumbbell with the opposite hand and let it hang straight down. Your same side leg should be on the ground for balance and support. Next, bring the dumbbell up to your side, keeping your elbow very close to your side as well. Pause and contract. When they say contract i try to flex but dont feel any thing mayby i have nothing there to flex lol.. So is this what they meen by contract flex??? Thanks
Contract simply means to tense/flex the muscle being worked. Hold for a second. Sometimes if you are just starting out, this is kind of hard to do due to the fact that the muscle is not really developed, and you have to "feel" for it. Keep doing it, you will. You may try bent over rows first for that, then do lawnmower pulls. They hit both sides simultaneously, and you can use more weight, so better developement. Good luck...
