hey everyone. this is my question. my body fat is around 15% now and i want to go on a diet for a quick 4 weeks. i got my diet on track but i have a question about cardio. i will be going to the gym 5 times a week and i will be doing a 20 min cardio workout after. i was thinking of doing it 4 times a week. my question is do you think i should do cardio after i work out my legs or keep that day my day off cardio?

i forgot to include. the 5 days i go to the gym a week i will be weight lifting, i'll do my cardio after for 20 min. i do not want to go to the gym on my days off so my only option is to do cardio on the day i do legs, or the day after. i'm afraid that my legs will be too soar the day after to jog but i'm not sure if jogging after working out my legs is a good idea

I have no problems in doing LIGHT cardio after working my legs..... It can actually help the muscle recover faster. Choose the bike so you'll sit down.
4 weeks only? and only 20 mins of cardio?

i'm doing it for only 4 weeks because over at johnberardi.com he wrote an article about you should be quite lean before you start a bulking up phase. Right now i'm standing at 14% bodyfat, if i get it down to 11% in four weeks it will work just fine. If i get it down, 70% of the weight gain will be muscle mass.

Actually I don't agree.... I would definitely bulk before cutting. Why? Because you'll gain muscles so much easier with fat and you'll loose fat so much easier with muscles.
About the total gain, well you cannot really tell.... It all depends on your diet!

I think you're headed down the right track, abayaa. Berardi is correct. This is why those who are fat can lose weight and fat far more quickly than those who are leaner. When you're fat, you lose fat more quickly and when you're lean, you gain LBM more quickly.

to add to my question, what intensity do you think i should be doing my cardio on all the days. i mostly hear medium intensity is good but some websites advise 13 minutes of extremely high intensity. what do you guys think?

If fat loss is your goal then low to high intensity interval training is probably best. Check out the body for life plan. I think it's one of the best cardio programs around. www.bodyforlife.com

If fat loss is your goal; I dont think it really matters when you do your cardio. I would suggest doing it before; this would also be a great way to warm up before lifting. The muscles grow and stretch much better after a good cardio session to warm them up. To burn them fat cals even faster-do your cardio early in the morning before you eat.
