After my frequent requests, and those of others, I'm sure, my gym actually had the aerobics room warm enough the other day that when I went in to do my barre and stretch, I was blown away by how flexible I actually am. It's usually so bad that I have to jump off the crosstrainer after my 30 min, pull on my sweats over my shorts, and hurry to stretch out before the chill in the room cooled me off too much. The big problem with that is that it's really hard to see your muscles working and check the position of your lower body in sweatpants, both crucial when training ballet! It felt good to have one really "bendy" day, let's hope they clue in and keep the temperature decent for the rest of the winter. This is Canada, it gets to be -40c in December, it needs to be much warmer inside the gym!

When I give stretching classes I always ask the people to keep on the sweaters..... The gym is not cold WHEN you are moving or exercising but stretching can be a very static work and it's noooo good to feel cold.
If you know how to do all the stretching exercises, then keep on your clothes, and even better -close your eyes and concentrate about your breathing relaxing the muscles....
