Should you exercise when you are sore?

It really depends what you mean by sore. Is it the usual after a hard workout sore....it goes away in 2-3 days? Or is it the it is so sore I can not move type where it really hurts like a stabbing fire like pain? I work thru all but the most painfull soreness. the really bad type you should rest. But if it is the normal workout type go for it..it may help work out the pain.

ok thanks for the advice. my biceps were extremly sore this whole week, but my friend said i should work out anyway, but i also heard you could injure yourself if you work out when sore. You answered my question perfectly though. thanks.

I wouldn't train a body part that is sore. Whenever you train, you're actually breaking down your muscle. Wait till it fully recovers before training it again. You don't want to break something down again before it actually gets a chance to build itself back up. I've seen myself actually skip a body part if it's still sore till the week after.
Recouperation is just as important as working out the muscles.

Dang is right. Your muscles grow not while working out, but while recovering. So working out while sore would be counterproductive. However, light cardio actually seems to help lessen soreness.

Yeah, I've read in many places that light cardio the day after will help in recouperating the broken down muscles. I can't remember the exact reason behind it, but it does work. I know that some light biking the day after a heavy leg workout always makes my legs feel much bette.
