okay so I've done the details back in may and now have input the minor shape change since then which involved major shrugs and chest work so I get 1/2 inch on the chest and neck each, so i lose a pound in weight and enter the new comparison and... hey the stats say I've lost a pound of muscle for my trouble, upping my body fat???

So now I don't know what to think. Any advice out there or reasoning that suggests it's all about the average stats and the computer doesn't know I've been on my trying to widen myself and big up the chest and back? or any help?

I'm not sold on the info that website produces. I think you should just treat it as a very useful and organized way of recording body measurements over time. Other than that, I don't trust the computations.

I would have to agree because using that website and comparing it to two other body fat sites I had a discrepancy of 8%. Of course, I also prefer the lower number from the other two sites much better!!! :):laugh::laugh:

Neil, please read my post in the '9% bodyfat and no sixpack in sight" thread in this same forum. It should hopefully answer your question.

Bottom line is there is absolutely no way that you can get an even close to accurate body fat estimate over a website.

The my bodycomp thing is also referenced in many of the Challange posts. Basicaslly I found that the hip to waist ratio is how they compute BF%. I increased my hips by 1 inch and decreased my waist by 1 inch over a few nonths. Their chart said my BF% went from 21% to 10%.

The site is a great tracking sight. I've used it for over a year. Its easy and regarding body size measurements it's as accurate as what you input. I decided a while back that my BF% is a pretty arbitrary number and not all that important. Usable strength and endurance is important to me.
My size is important. What a caliper or chart says about this silly mystical number isn't.

I like the site for keeping up with my measurements - that way I'm not having to hunt for the notebook that I used to keep that info in. I have too many papers to keep up with & if something can stay on the computer - I really do prefer it

I don't have access to the underwater scales & my boys would break the skinfold test things(sorry I can't think how to spell it)
