I am planning to start working out again after an operation and have had a personal trainer prepare a program.

Questions.
It is a basic 3 days a week program.
Day 1 - Chest/Bicep (Mon)
Day 2 - Back /Tricep (Wed)
Day 3 - Shoulders/Legs(Fri)

This also includes cardio after each workout for 20 minutes and Cardio 7 days a week in the morning for 20 minutes.

I am looking to lose weight I gained in the hospital and weight I put on after when I couldn't participate in sports.

Is this a good plan. Also on my off days I will goto the gym twice once in the morning for cardio and once in the afternoon.

It looks good, but remember working out is only half the battle. Eating good is very important as well.... If you have a personal trainer they should be able to help you with a diet plan as well, or you can fill out a nutrition profile on the site here to help you. :)

I can eat the same things everyday is this a plan or a huge mistake for my meals.

Wake Up:
Cardio 20 mins.

Morning:
Oatmeal (low fat, decent protein, low carb)
Coffee (no sugar, skimmed milk)

Pre lunch:
2 Apples or Fruit/Nut Mix (low fat mix, low sodium)

Lunch:
2 slices of whole wheat bread,
1 chicken breast or equivelent chicken meat,
and mustard or some low fat cheese with lettuce.

Workout:
3 days a week as I said before and 20 mins cardio (so min 40 of cardio a day)

Post workout:
a can of tuna, just plain tuna (hate mayo)

Dinner:
Chicken (don't eat beef) with veg and rice.

Late Snack:
Raw veg or fruit.

During the day I will also be drinking a load of water about 4.5 to 7.5 litres.

Also on Fridays and Tuesdays I will add 2 pints on Tuesday and 4-6 on Friday. (just being honest)

Just wondering if that would be a good idea or is it too strict?

post workout dont forget to get some carbs.. and for your late night snack maybe have some cottage cheese or a glass of milk. the casein protein will be better for you than the carbs, as you wont need them if you are sleeping soon. the protein will prevent muscle degradatiuon overnight.

as long as this satisfies your nutritional goals for the day, its good to go. the beer isnt the best, but im in the same situ..
