I've been doing battle with a chest cold and did not work out Friday or Saturday. My Friday routine is usually about 40 mins of cardio, while my Saturday routine involves weights and cardio afterwards. Still feeling sick, I got up Sunday and went to the gym, where I did the work-out I missed Saturday.

Did I make the right decision? Or should I have waited until I was 100% well before returning to the gym?

Thanks!

If you feel up to it, then train. High intensity isn't good as your body really needs to recover. I would definately up the intake of protein, and also glutamine.
Don't sneeze near me!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is glutamine? And will it cause me to gain weight?

Thanks!

Glutamine is one of the 11 nonessential amino acids.
Our bodies produce it, and it is found in muscle, lungs, liver, brain and stomach.
Under normal conditions are body can produce more than enough to handle a average person.
Under stress situations, our reserves get depleted, and then thats when we need to supplement.
Research is shoing that even a cold, can cause depletion, the we have to replenish our reserves.
The stress that we cause to our bodies while training also causes a depletion and the harder we train, the higher the depletion.

Hope this helps.

Another useful thing to do is keep an eye on your resting heart rate and don´t train until it´s back down to normal.

Actually light exercise will make you feel better. Exercise can actually boost your immune system when fighting a virus. It will increase your blood flow and get the antibodies rushing through the veins it will also heat the blood which make for a hostile environment for infection (this is why you get a fever), your lungs will be called up on for oxygen and be forced to flush out any rubbish, intense exercise on the other hand will have the reverse effect.
