hello, i work out 5 days a weekm,im only suposed to work out 3 days a week so says my trainer. I just love going and i feel so good afterwards, i get up at 4:30 am so im there by 5:30 am lifting and doing lunges all the fun stuff. i've heard you need a day of rest for your muscles or you could have deminishing results! is this true?? :dumbbell:

Actually you need more like 3 to 7 days recovery time for each muscle group. It varies by individual. You will definitly diminish your returns by allowing only 1 day's recovery. Thats why a good workout is split into muscle groups done only once or twice a week.

Some larger more well used groups like legs and abs can take 2 or 3 workouts a week. But most others need longer recovery time.

The guy there every single day likely only does one muscle group, maybe two, per day. Five days a week isn't bad at all, as long as you're doing different body parts each day. Try to split upper-body and lower-body up, too - even though on a shoulder day you're not focusing on your biceps, for example, you're still using them and that can impede their recovery.

Hey thanks for the input.. the problem is i do a mixture of the same work out everyday, my trainer changes it one time a month so i don't get burnt out, he mesures my fat loss with that little pinching thing too! in 7 different places. im not going tomorow im real tired, i feel like my muscles need a rest. 4:30 am comes quick. so it's a combo of legs, arms, abs.. still bad?:dumbbell:

If you're not sure how to work your splits, the FT program will do it for you. You can choose the type of goala you want as well as the days you want to workout. It;s pretty easy and you can record your progress as well.

You CAN do it daily, even 5 days a week. You just have to split it correctly. Take a look at the programs. You may like them as well.

Charlie bangs head on key board.:big_smile:You can pick your days. Look in personal exercise plans at the top of the page. Follow the instructions. Print out the 1st weeks routine and show it to your trainer. If he doesn't like it you can modify it or ile it in the circular file. It will simply help you split your routines.
