Well I want to have a 355 squat that 305 in my sig is actually off a 14.5 inch box.

Deadlift 415 to 425

Bench 295 to 305

These are the best goals I can come up with right now!

I don't think you can go lower...once you call it it stays, you can only go up or stay the same

Do you always squat off a box? Do you not do any regular normal squats? If nto i'd start doing some "regular squats" soon.

I do regular squat a lot with chains and bands and Safety Squat Bar.

It's just my last regular squat PR is lower the my Box because I haven't done a regular squat PR attempt since my Box.

My Team has a few Master Lifters 2 going for Elite status this summer so my training with them is AWESOME!

Still I think you need to do some regular squats....with real weight. Bands and chains( with me) more so with bands...seemed to help stablize the weight on my back.

while i do think not regularly free squatting is bad, as you almost forget to do it, i believe that the guys he is with probably know what they are doing in terms of meet preparation.

that said, they will know what is best for THEM. you need to adapt it to you...

Exactly these guys are Master Lifters they mentor off of Super Training so much Mark Bell has lent us a Froza Bench, Safety Squat Bar and all other kinds of goodies.

2 of our team member will hit Elite Status this summer so they can't be stupid lifter and train like morons they are pretty damn smart with the iron.

I'm the dumbass of the team right now lol.

Carl,

while i am slightly agreeing with you, i am also slightly agreeing with andrew. how many times have you free squatted since you started with these guys?

you make a great point. they are about to hit elite. they know how to squat. you dont. not everything they do can be applied to you because you are essentially a beginner.

you have 6 weeks not including the rest of this one before your meet. the last week is a deload and the week before should be an openers week. so you have essentially 4 weeks to learn how to squat properly.

they might be able to do it with bands and chains and stuff. you need the practice- make sure they are aware of this and not just lumping you in their lifts b/c thats what they need to do...

I free squat a lot with them if it's a straight bar or Safety Squat Bar.

Carl,

I dont think you are understanding the point. I just looked through your log from when you started with them in January. Not once have you gone heavy free squatting with a straight bar. You have done 1 or 2 with the SSB and the rest w/ or against bands.

Box squats, bands, chains, SSB are all ME variations for the good ol' straight bar free squat. SSB puts the weight onto your quads a little bit more, but does force you to sit back. You still have not had any appreciable weight with the actual competition lift.

Take that as you will. Believe me, it does play in. I am just thinking in the few weeks you have left, you need to spend most of it free squatting rather heavy to get the technique down under load.

You have several straight ME Deads and Bench tho.

Well congrats on them just now hitting elite.

However most poeple in MY group have been elite for 10+ years. One guy is in top 2O for squat just about every year for his class/weight etc. Girl I train with is only the 3rd girl in HISTORY to bench 500lbs. Btw they are all Drug free.

I personally don't like the idea of only ~8 weeks to get ready for a meet. I like to plan mine out. We always prefere 14-15weeks.

Carl, neither Marcus or I are masters lifters...

we're both Open Class, I'm 25 years old.

We'll get Carl ready for the meet on our next progressive wave. I'm doing a suit test next ME squat day, and then we'll pick openers. So he's got two-three free squatting, straight bar, straight weight heavy squat days coming up.

we'll get him ready. don't worry.

it wouldn't look very good to bring 4 lifters and have one of them bomb.

Yeah I don't know dick about Powerlifting but I'm learning but from what I see you and Marcus come up with in the gym seems pretty masterful to me!

Masters is an age category dude.

although to use the classifications I suppose both Marcus and I are indeed "Master" class.

although the only one people really care about nowadays is Elite, i suppose due to the development of gear.
