I usually run at night and am wondering if I should eat before I go on my run or after my run?
Thanks.

I would have a meal before and after. One to help fuel and the other for recovery, maybe even just a shake to recover.

Your profile states your main goal is to lose a thin layer of fat. I would suggest if going for a run only, have some amino acids(protein) pre run. Fat oxidation takes place when all available components are there.
You don't state if you are doing it in a fasted state(early morning pre breakfast), or during the day. If you are doing it fasted, this is a bad idea.
The mechanism of fat burning should be understood. for fats to be converted to citric acid, oxaloacetate must be available. Without oxaloacetate, citric acid cannot be formed and acetyl-CoA cannot be further processed.
Oxaloacetate can be produced from the breakdown of certain amino acids. The amino acids will need to be derived from muscle tissue, leading to muscle wastage if they are not available.
If you are doing it during the day, chances are if you are eating a good diet(every 3 hrs. or so), you will have adequate serum levels of AA's. Then just go with your calorie needs to keep the caloric deficit going. Afterwards, eat a low glycemic meal about 1/2 hr. to 45 mins. post run. (no blood sugar rises, no insulin release....this is antagonist to fat burn

Thanks bb1, I was trying to remember when I was doing cardio in the evening what I did. Should've pointed out it was just my opinion. Saw that he mentioned at night and thought what I did may apply. Thanks for the clarification. I'll be more cautious in the future and be sure to announce when I'm just stating my opinion. Thanks again.

What usually happens is I eat around 7 or 7:30pm and run from 10pm to 11pm unless I am doing HIIT's which only last at the most 40 minutes with the warm up and cool down. I am going to try to run earlier though.
Thanks for the info.

Not sure what you are apologizing for. My post did not infer you wrong in any way. You are in fact correct, nutrition of some sort should accompany both phases.

Then thanks.
I just want to try and help but when I see someone explain something in detail I feel I kinda shorted them I guess. Last thing I guess I want to do is mislead or not be clear enough.

Hey Mojo...I appreciate the help and advice as you guys have probably been doing this a lot longer than I have and have been on this website way longer than me.
Also, thanks bb1fit for all of your advice as well. All of this is heading me in the right or better direction than me just guessing. :)
