Hello all... I am 5'11" and weight 205ish LBS. I am doing cardio 4-5 Days a week for about 30min and also do weight training 5 Days a week. Will I gain weight or loose weight? I understand by weight training I should gain some but will the cardio counter it? my BMI is 29. Is it ok to have a BMI of 29 if you are lean, which I am currently not!
If someone could explain and make scense of this to me that would be great... Thanks in advance. John

You should gain lean mass and drop fat. Try to stay away from the scale. As you are training, you will see the change in your body and feel it. You will not totally displace muscle and fat, but the gains/losses could very well offset each other, therefore the reasoning too of not looking at the scale. This is all conjecture if your diet is not in order though. You have to eat the right foods to gain lean mass and to lose fat. With your BF, this should not be an issue, you should be able to lose fat with no problem.

Let me clarify my answer some. I wrote this late last night, and after re reading it, seems it may be a little vague. What I mean is if you are just beginning, you should have no problem with gaining some lean mass and dropping fat at the same time. These 2 may offset each other somewhat on the scale, so don't go by looking to it to see a weight loss. Go by how you look, how your clothes feel, etc. After you reach the intermediate stage, things start to get a bit more tricky. Do your weights first, cardio second. Eat a diet high in lean protein, and good fibrous carbs for the most part. No sugary carbs, and very few starchy carbs if any. throw in about 20% fats from sources like flax oil and fish oils. These steps should have you on your way. Best of luck to you...
