Well, i am getting sick of not being able to work out like I used to. I have decided to break down and get a home system, but not sure what to get. I have a few free weights that I use now, but was wondering if bowflex was the way to go or somwthing else. i don't want to go too expensive and I get a bowflex for a little less than $1,000. That is about the price range I want to stay or of course cheaper. Any suggestions would be greatful.

Any reason why a normal gym is out of the question?

I have worked out at home since I began to lift. I can lift as heavy as possible. I have a lot of things I put together myself for safety. I have over 400lbs of olympic plates/w O bar, Olympic EZ curl bar and Olympic DB , a sturdy bench, squat rack, treadmill, and my music. That is all I need. People will say that working out at home can't get you great results, but, IF YOU WANT IT BAD ENOUGH, YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO. Oh yeah, in terms of cost, My whole set that I own was under $400. I know this will last me years to come, while some people almost pay that much each year in gym fees.

I work over 100 hours a week so going to an off base gym is out of the question. The gym on base closes early and is not convenient for me to use. I am usually tired when I get home from work and really don't feel like going anywhere and if I had a home gym, it would be easy for me to work out for about 45 minutes before bed.

I'm new but if you like the bowflex concept, but not the price. I bought a crossbow. You are still able to do 65 club quality exercises and it comes with most attachments. I did purchase the lat bar as an extra feature. Also, extra weight can be purchased. Base cost for the machine is $499. I printed out my fitnesse program and was able to every exercise on my program with it.

I go to a gym, but at home I also have a treadmill, elliptical, free weights from 3 to 20 lbs, a body bar, body pump barbell and weights, and a Swiss ball. You can use a Swiss ball for every exercise you do on a flat bench with your weights, plus it's a great ab workout. It's also nice just to stretch on after a long day....

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. Lithium thanks for making it known that I will be able to do all the ft exercises on your machine. Sounds like a great investment. Where did you purchase it at and can I get in on the web?

Yes, you can get it on the web. I believe it is www.thecrossbow.com Today was my first workout, I really liked it and feel that it will grow with me.

lithium,
I absolutely love my elliptical. It's a Nordic Track with programs built into it for both resistance and incline. Cost was 700 on sale. It was 200 off. You can usually find good deals. I bought it at my local Sears, but they also have a website you can go to to look at the specs. I think it's www.nordictrack.com. It's an excellent cardio workout, plus great for legs with high resistance.

Bowflex is a nice machine, pricey, but nice.
