Hey guys.. looks like this place is growing pretty fast, I'm a little curious why you guys are here? besides the obvious of course ...

Personaly, I love bodybuilding. I fell in love with it the day I saw Pumping Iron when I was 13 in gym class. Everyone was like, "Man.. who are all those guys in speedos!". But not me.. everything changed for me that day, Schwarzenegger became my inspiration. Health & Fitness has become a part of my life, I cannot imagine it not being there. When I get sick.. I feel a void when I can't exercise. It has given me more confidence, energy and a healthier lifestyle!

This message board is truly a great place to meet others who share the same or similar passions. So speak up you guys..

Hii Arnold. Untill I read this post I thought you WERE Schwarzenegger! :0)Joking. Anyway believe it or not I saw pumping Iron when I was a teen too. It was great in the day. I had no idea where to start and pretty much forgot about it. Met a 36 y/o bodybuilder when I was 19 who told me I had the perfect shape to be a bodybuilder (a point with which I disagree now)and he asked if I wanted to lift with him. He was a real hard a** and did not cut me any slack at all. I trained with him a year and when I got to the point where I was stronger than him, we just stopped. I laid off the next year and thought I was through with weights. Little did I know I was INFECTED!

Continued to avoid that expired session cut off thing. What is that anyway?
As far as this site goes I like it alot. It's clean talk abou what I love to do with my free time. Not the usual test talk I found on other boards and no off topic post about what sex gods all the guys are. Don't get me wrong, I like some of the more hardcore sites to but this is a pleasent change form some of the insane posts on other boards. Ever hear of the tuna/milkshake mass building plan. I can't believe some of the non sense I've read elsewhere. I also like the fact that alot of the folks hear are newbies. Beginners often give me new insights and freshoutlook on Issues where I've become jaded.

I love to lift and do the things to get big and lean. I feel happy and energetic. I will never quit working out, its my a part of my life.
The reason i started was when i was in my first marriage i got up to 220 of fat unhealthy slob. It pissed me off when i played with my nephews that i got winded and tired. And thats when i got pissed and said never again, i joined the gym that week, by end of summer i was down to 170, now i weigh 225, and am in better shape than before.

Rob your story sounds good. Glad you found the way and will to make it happen for you! How long did it take you to beef up from your weight of 170? Thats about what I was when I started and it took me years to get to my present 137.

Geez! I mean 237. I want to build up to about 245 then cut. I once had a doctor who told me I was obese because my ideal weight was around 175 for a height of 5ft 10. I told him that I lift weights (at the time I was 218)He said it did not matter if it was muscle or fat I still needed to get rid of the extra weight! Said it was a strain on my heart!!! Couldn't believe it!Fired his butt that day and found a doc who understood what I was up to. I worked hard to get this big!! I guess it just goes to show ya doctors don't always know best.

when I was 14 I was really out of shape, so I decided to workout just for general fitness.As a biginer I didn't know how to handle weights and our coach seems as if he doesn't know what he 's doing. I bought the book "Arnold:The Education Of a BodyBuilder" and after seeing Arnold's physique I was pushed into the sport. I'm now 16 years old and I am 182 lb.

I have always been skinny. About 7 years ago I tested positive for HIV, then a couple of years later my health began to decline. I started working out (slowly) and made some drastic changes that I thought would help me. I am in better shape now than I have ever been and I feel fantastic. I now look forward to a long and happy life.

... if I had continued on the course I was on prior to body building I would be dead now. I am not dead - I'm fully alive and I love it!

I train because it makes me feel good period.
it's 1 hick of a stress reliever and that's what I like most.

Power to you sunnyjack. I've worked in hospice settings with H.I.V. and understand how devastating such a diagnosis can be to everyone involved. I also had a coworker who passed a couple of years ago. I had tried to talk him into the gym to help preserve his health. But he never changed any of his habits. My admiration goes to you for your courage in the fight!

It’s nice to be able to communicate with people that have the same interests as me. It sucks talking about fitness to people that really don’t care.

I started lifting when I was 12 years old. My uncle got me started lifting; he was really ripped and had great biceps. When I was younger I wanted to have arms just like him. Since I’m now older I don’t care if I ever have get great arms as him. I lift to live longer, feel better, look good, and be stronger than the average person. I want to be one of those 70 year olds running a 10-mile marathon. :0) It’s the physical challenge the sport has to offer me. Damn, everything about it gives me the Goosebumps. I love it; I love the tears, sweat, burn and the soreness. I can’t get enough—I think as soon as I’m done typing this I’m going to pump some Iron :0)

Well my reasons may be a little different other than wanting to improve my confidence and wellbeing. I am not a very big guy only 6' at 190lbs and I am fairly new at this only been seriously training for about 6 months. I am in the military and was in a career field called Pararescue which has been considered one of the hardest military traing we have to offer. After 6 and a 1/2 months of being in this 2yr training I got injured and had a Med. disqualification. I am now training very hard to get back in as I am now okay to go back, FT has helped me get started in the right direction I think to get prepared in physically.

Well Im 24 and always found myself too skinny so i started lifting 6 months ago. Since then my whole life has changed for the best.Too many things to mention and dont wanna bore you guys . But I mean, Im glad I started and today Im going all out till I die.

Keep up the good addiction guys :)

there is nothing like having total control over your body. control over your boby, control over your mind.
It just helps me with all aspects of my like.
there are not many people out there that can acomplish anything they put there mind to, but training teached you how to...

Reasons? It fills up void. Like Arnold said, seeing Arnold on the screen is just SO inspirational. It is not to look good or to be cool. It is because it makes you grin like mad when you walk out of the gym and you know you just squatted the equivalent of two camels.. :0), because you do it for you and you only. It is life energy to me ppls. Harness the power of iron and bend it to serve your purpose.. :))) cool aint it..

I was always "too busy" at work or at home. After being out of work for a while, I have had plenty of time to think about what I want from life. I guess one of the more significant things that I want to achieve over the next year is to whip my sorry a** into shape (as well as the rest of my body :-) ).

This site is really great. The "community" theme is really evident and I am hooked. It is the first site I look at in the morning.

I started weightlifting when people told me that I was " too skinny" at the age of the 13.... my weight was 90 pounds my biceps were 11.5 inches flexed. and other people in my 7th grade class were like 110 or 115 muscle and some not. so my uncle said to his exact wprds were " your too skinny, here are ten pounds that I have in my room lift them dont you wanna be like arnold schwarzenegger " so I started to lift weights and brought my confidence and my motivation to prove everyone wrong.

so now im 16 with 14 inch biceps and still on my way to prove everyone wrong... so I signed up for more tips and it lead me to new possibilities and to be open to other experiences for my workout and diet... so thanks alot everyone in this website!!!!!!!!

it's a great site as well as helpful; I've been workingout
most of my life and when i can't or have a injury i get really grumpy and need to be in the gym; thx to all that started the site and keep up the great work and ideas. i lift alone and sometimes need fresh ideas.

I got tired of being fat and having low energy. Searched the internet for something on diets and exercise programs, found this site, and it sort of just convinced me that weight training was something for me.
