What about ribose?

Couple questions about ribose:
First, is anyone currently taking any supplements with ribose? I've tried the EAS RiboForce just one time and I found it to be pretty decent. Some ribose supplements are to be taken before a workout. But if we aren't supposed to spike our insulin before training, how could ribose be effective? I understand that ribose is required to synthesize the adenosine molecule that is the "A" part of both ADP and ATP. Even then, if it effects insulin levels prior to training, it seems that it would be a hinderance. I've looked around the internet and checked a couple of books, but I still don't know if its a high- or low-glycemic sugar. If anyone has any info about it (especially those who have tried it), let me know. I don't think this has been discussed on FT before.

I had a friend who gave me a few bottles. I took them for awhile and couldn't tell a difference. They are supposed to produce energy. I really don't know anymore about it than you and there isn't much info available except thru those who sell it!
