So when people talk about weight training are you talking about free weights or machines? or does it matter as long as some resistance is involved? I use natulus (sp) machines, I dont feel I could just go into the weight room and start lifting..is it the same thing, well you know beneficially?:)

weight training can involve many forms of resistance....machines, freeweights, cables, bands, chains, nautilas, sandbags, anything really...

freeweights are superior to most other forms of resistance in their ability to quickly and efficiently build strength, muscle, help shed body fat, etc...

look up proper form for most common exercises with freeweights....barbells and Dbs...

focus on squats, deadlifts, overhead presses, chin ups, bent over rows, bench presses, etc....dont waste your time on curls and extensions....or you'll be just like every other woman in the gym who never sees results....and lift heavy....aim for 8-10 rm for those big exercises...so no 2.5lb pink dumbells...go as heavy as you can given that rep range...

I used feel uncomfortable going into the weight room but you've got to do it. Just go into the weight room and start lifting.

have to agree with msmogreen...

I used to walk into a gym and feel awkward and didnt have a clue as to what to do...but you slowly get used to it...and the results will motivate you to do better and try harder...
