I started working out about a month ago, running daily and wieght training three days a week. When lifting, i notice the left side of my body is significantly weaker then my right side. Even visually i can see my right arm as at least twice the size of my left. How should i go about building strenght in my left side? Should I rest down the right side, or add more reps/sets to the left side? thanks

I had the same issue and still do. In my pictures it's a noticeable visual difference.

Start using dumbbells for most workouts for a month or so. Bench, curls...use dumbbells for all of them. Never do more for the right then you can do for the left. Even if you can do 5 more curls with your right side don't.

Only catch is this may not cure the visual unevenness, but it will cure the unevenness strength wise. My left is pretty well caught up with my right in strength, but visually it's still almost an inch smaller then my right bicep.

From what I've read on the subject there might be nothing you can do for this. In my case I'm just going to build some massive 25(right) and 24(left) inch pythons...then that 1 inch won't make as big of a difference.

Do you think that there is some kind of inhibitor, because (assuming you're right handed) the left arm isn't dominant - ie, you'll never be able to make it up? also, why does this seem not to apply to legs? I'm much better with my left leg.

I did my first workout today and I felt the same, my left arm would give up pretty early and now an hour after the workout it the muscle hurts and shakes. I decided to do same weight and reps for both arms so it would even out eventually but about the lefty-righty issue I'm a lefty when doing delicate motorics and righty with the crude motorics.

Good tip sstump1. My left arm is nearly equal to my right in size and strength, but I really see the difference in my chest. My right pec is much more developed than my left. Will dumbell bench press do the same?
