I have been working out for about 4 months now. I work out 3 times a week and I pretty much work my whole body with machines, really focusing on my legs. However, I have mysteriously gained 5 pounds that I just cant shed. I eat exactly the same as I did before working out, if not better. I just don't understand where this weight came from. Especially if women only gain 8-12 pounds of muscle a year. Could someone please shed some light on the situation. Thanks.

losing weight is'ant so much a going to the gym and workoing your ass off thing, it more in what you eat, like high protein meats and low carb vegtibales.

You've probably heard it before, but don't judge your weight on the scale. Are your clothes any tighter? If not then it isn't body fat. Have you been drinking a lot more water? Water retention will add a lot of weight. Did you weight yourself after meals? That can change the scale by a few lbs.
I would be willing to bet that weight is muscle. A lot of people (including girls) that just get into lifting will have muscle growth spike at first. I wouldn't worry about it and keep up the lifting and continue to eat clean.
-------------- - Its never about how much you can lift, or how many reps you do. Its just about doing it, and doing it right.
- If your hungry all the time, your not eating enough. And anyways, being hungry sucks.
