Hello, I am new to the site and am looking to get some advice. I am twenty five, and have been a heavy smoker for around eight years. I don't exercise, and probably don't eat right. I am looking to join the US Navy, and would really like to be as fit and ready as I can when I do sign up and have to leave for boot camp. I figure starting now will make boot camp itself easier than it would be going in way out of shape. Any advice or help would be majorly appreciated. Thank you.

You'll never be able to survive boot camp if you can't breathe properly. Quit smoking, start eating right, and start exercising. Do things that build endurance though, like running, (walking first if you're really out of shape), swimming laps, and biking. I've never done bootcamp before, but I'd imagine you'd need quite a bit of endurance along with strength to get through it.

Yeah I figure i'll need speed, endurance, and strength. I have a membership to Lifetime fitness, i'm just not sure what machines and stuff I should use, and what reps in order to get the best results in around a 4 month time frame.

You should search out info regarding the Navy boot camp to get an idea of what you can expect and that will give you direction for your Lifetime workouts.
