I was wondering if this product is anygood for strength training? I read alot about it on the internet and I came across many people that said that they had great results...Im so sick of my bench and wieghts, I want to find something quick so I dont have to change weights all the time from one dumbell to another. I mean, Im not that strong (yet), I weight around 170 and bench 135..not to good, I read alot about this product of how "you lift your own weight" If this product helps me to actually lift "My own weight" im considering to buy it. Because if I can bench what I weight, I will feel pretty good of myself...Thanks...

It depends on the type of Total Gym, there are several different makes on the market, main differences between them are the percentage of your body weight that you can use, and the types of exercises available because of the attachements that they supply.

The main benefit is the ease of use and the safety aspect, there is no continuous changing of weights, you just sit in a different position, safety wise you are not holding large lumps of metal over your head or chest. The top setting of most gyms will be working against 50 to 60 % of your body weight, depending on manufacturer, but most allow you to add extra weight to the bench.

Overall I like my total gym, and tend to alternate its use with free weights, especially if I'm doing high rep work, but I think you may find it quite limiting very quickly for serious strength training.
