I know people are sometimes looking for a book to read on nutrition and training or supplements so I found a little article by Lyle Mcdonald who reccomends his top 5 books to read for the novice or even those who want to know more. thought it might help some.
Q:What are the top 5 books you recommend to read if you're just getting into lifting, nutrition and supplements?
Lyle M: Hard to limit it to 5. Consider the listings in each category to be in order of importance.
Nutrition: Priming the Anabolic Environment by Will Brink - An excellent introduction to bodybuilding nutrition.
Bodyopus: Militant Weight Loss and Body Recomposition by Dan Duchaine - Even a bunch of years out of date and a few minor mistakes, one of the best diet books ever.
I might also put Colgan's Optimum Sports Nutrition in here. It's a few years out of date and you have to ignore the constant pimping of Twinlab stuff, but the basic nutrition chapters are quite excellent.
Training: The Poliquin Principles by Charles Poliquin - A scientific approach to bodybuilding training.
Brawn by Stuart McRobert. A good introduction to the Hardgainer philosophy. Mainly good for it's emphasis on heavy compound movements, basic training, and progressive overload.
Supplements: Unfortunately, most of the books on supplements tend to be written by companies which sell them, they often times will crap on anything that that they don't sell and hype up anything that they do. Surprisingly, the 4th Edition of the EAS Sports Supplement Review by Vince Andrich is pretty good. Though it won't cover any of the newer than new stuff. I like it because it focuses on diet and training first and then talks about the magic pills.
Will Brink's Diet Supplements Revealed is an excellent look at the myriad of dieting supplements.

Yep Lyle McDonald is the man on dieting, and Charles Poliquin is just the man! Good luck on finding any of his books, especially so "The Poliquin Principles".
You may be able to find "Winning the Arms Race".
