I have been attending a gym for 8 weeks. Have gain 3 lbs 2.5 of which is muscle. Trainer says I should be only eating every 3 hours 50/50 protein/carbs. Is this true. Sounds too hard to be planning all these snacks and meals. Anyone recommend a good 50/50 energy bar. I bought boost is that ok?

meijcp, first of all, welcome to Freetrainers. I would suggest for you to fill in you profile so we can help you a little bit more.

Now, about the 50/50 p/c mix, I'm not really sure if I understood your question. You are planning on eating every 3 hours energy bars? The first thing here is, that is going to be really expensive for you, because protein bars aren't that cheap. Secondly, I would not be very worried about getting the 50/50 grs of p/c on every meal, My opinion is that you could have more carbs in the morning or on a different ratio as the 50/50, say 40/60... and then by mid afternoon / night you can switch it all the way around in order to get more proteins & less carbs. It really depends a lot on your goals (dropping BF%, gaining mass)the amount of p/c ratio you should be consuming.

Again I'm not pretty sure if I understood your question, but it will be great if you could fill in your profile so we can know what your goals are and maybe suggest different p/c/f ratios for your daily intake.

Hope this helps
