Hey Guys!!
Need some advice - I'm going away to a country where I will have no access to gym equipment for 6 weeks. Is there any type of exercises I could do to keep my fitness going. Please note I am going to an extremely hot country (so no 10 mile jogs please!!!!).
Thanx in advance

You'll have internet access...right? If so, you can sign up for an ft program and choose home workout. Most of the exercises should not involve weights.

Good luck!

Umm,
Actually no - no internet access. I'm gonna be miles from civilisation. No electrics, no gas, no heating, pretty much no nothing.

I think the at home training program here at ft is pretty much the same from week to week unlike the rest of the programs.. so why not get a week.. print it out.. and take it with you?

I spend about 30 to 35 weeks a year on the road including the South Pole. I have a couple of tension straps (you can get them most anywhere, I got my last set at Sears) and use them when I can't find a gym around my motel.

all your traditional "before we had gyms" exercises. Pushups (flat, decline and incline) pullups and chin ups, crunches, squats, dips for triceps, whatever you can do with weights you can do with out. Use your own body as resistence. Your goal is to just maintain in the 6 week time frame. The diet will be as important as the training!

Thanx for your reply,

I've checked out the home training schedule which looks pretty good. However, what are can curls? Also chin -ups between 2 chairs?

There should be a choice to view the exercise. If there's no picture, a description is usually provided.

Yes, use body weight exercises (like ltroisi says). Great exercises to stay in shape (don't forget the calves as well)

Another very important thing you have to remember (if you don't want to loose muscle) is the diet. Keep eating your proteins as before. You can go out for small runs, just make sure of wearing protection and drink a lot.

Good luck to you!
