For all of you that still think running for 30 mins a day is the best way to burn fat, its time for a reality check.
Although running for extended periods of time is very healthy, its not neccesarily the best way to burn fat, it will however boost your heart and lung power. The number 1 thing for losing fat, no matter what you here from stupid TV or anything like that, is diet, if you dont eat right, you wont burn fat simple as that, just like if you dont eat right, you wont gain muscle, people try to somehow get around eating right by saying theres new breakthroughs in fat burning to...blah blah blah, number 1 is diet, period, if your serious about wanting to lose weight you will make the sacrifice of eating all the crap sold to us, otherwise you dont really want to lose weight. now, to the exercises, the best way to burn fat is by doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), which basically means putting forth a good effort for shorter periods of time, followed by rest, then repeat. in its simplest form all you need to do is(after warming up)is run with a fast pace for 30 seconds, then walk for 30, run for 30, walk for 30,now if you actually are putting a good effort into the running you heart rate should be at the anaerobic levels. This form of exercise has been said to be 9 times more effective than ordinary monotone cardio! and it takes half the time! Proper diet, along with HIIT should get you into shape in no time, just remember not to cheat yourself and always put a good effort in. |

Hey, Mister Intensity... First post huh... good points... The main point though and you want to put caps on this one, underline it, and put a hypnotic spell on it is "DIET" Diet doesn't mean not eatting. If you have a proper diet and don't eat any junk or drink any junk what so ever you wouldn't even have to exercise just wake up in the morning eat your food go about your day eatting healthy all day everyday and you will be dropping pounds like nothing.. And don't forget to drink plenty of water through out the day...
I am living proof I lost 30lbs. of fat in just 3 months from changing my diet and eatting health... I eat six meals a day about 3,500 calories total.. And it was not from all the exercising why because I have been doing the same exercises for some 12 years.. Ask me how much running or jogging I do? The answer is none I have not ran 20yds. in over 4 years. since I got out of the Army... I almost never do any cardio and in the winter I don't do it at all because it is just to cold out side.. When I do cardio I will ride my bike and slowly to.. How slow I can sing out loud to the music I listen to from start to finish. -------------- age:26 height:6ft. weight:174lbs. chest:43in. stomach at navel:33in... biceps:16.5in...cold... Every thing in my signature is true and I check my measurements and weight once a week... \\"Common Sense is not Common\\" |

Hey Mister,
It seems a bit strange that of course, the most important way to burn fat is by diet (good fact), and then to do the HIIT for 30 on 30 off. That's pretty complex considering it's not even the most important thing (not to mention incredibly boring). I think Dave has it right (even though I wouldn't brag about his lack of cardio fitness). I'd like to add though, "diets" are temporary. I suggest a more permanent solution like changing your eating habits for the better. |

Justin you are on a diet just like everybody else and probably been on the same diet your whole life..I'm just guessing.... I could be wrong.
The diet I'm on is made for a life time.. Just like yours... I only eat healthy food every 3 hours and I haven't missed a meal in over 5 months now. keep your body fueled with the right kind of fuel and you will be lean. Lean and Mean. "THIS DIET IS PERMANENT" Why would I want to go back to feeling weak and energyless and eatting 3 meals a day. When I can stay lean and full of energy eatting 6 small meals a day.... -------------- age:26 height:6ft. weight:174lbs. chest:43in. stomach at navel:33in... biceps:16.5in...cold...
