Was wondering if anyone had an opinion on this type of lifting. There is a book Slowburn or something like that where you lift one set of 6-8 exercises(whole body workout) 1-2 times/week. 10 seconds lift/10 seconds to lower.
Any comments?
Thanks, C

I'm not a big fan personally. Think of it this way - when you weight train, it's like school for your muscles. Your muscles adapt and 'learn' based on the way you train them. When you train them slowly, in a way, they get slower. You develop more endurance (good for those in grappling sports) and you'll gain size, but lose explosiveness in your muscles. Generally, I use faster contractile speeds and slow it down on the eccentric (lowering) phase to induce hypertrophy. The only reason I can think of to lift (not lower) a weight slowly is if you need improved sustained contraction for a sport.
