I know some ppl that r strong as hell but look like midgets. My bro said that weight lifting stunts your growth if your at an early age. I'm 5'5" and started working out 6 months ago(im 13) and wiegh 140 now. what could I do to prevent this because i love weight training but ill stop if it prevents me from goin down to midget status. Also does anyone know if this could be prevented?(multi-vitamins, protein, mass gainers, higher calcium intakes, etc....)

I don't think you should worry, just stay away from the juice which I'm sure you do. You have time to grow still. Ask a professional for advice maybe. Someone who really knows.

That i have never heard. I do know the strongest bodies are usually smaller with shorter limbs due to leverage. Maybe that is what he is talking about. (Notice most midgets are buff as shit!) -snow

hmm, they r, i think its cus they have smaller bodies and their muscles tend to look bigger since they they are so small. but these midgets u speak of ive seen them too and they are huge + some dont look like they can move...

I remember asking the same Q back when I was just starting out. Almost everybody told me that weight training doesn't infact stunt your growth as long as your working out right. Exercises like squats, good mourning and deadlifts should performed carefully, Always keep your lower back straight when doing them. No need to use a lot of weight with these exercises at first...just work on the form. Arnold used to train from the age of 15 and his 6.2 now. He grew a few inches too back when he was training really hard. So just keep up the good work, and don't worry much about the stunt thing as long as your form is right.

Ive heard that it does stunt growth from bros and friends cus wehen u workout it uses all your nutrients that you recieve from foods(calcium/protein) because it needs these to repair your muscles and you stunt your growth from this. I am not sure if this is true its just that it seems to make more sense but if this is true then can i take multivitamins because ive heard many different sides because ive asked a science teach that explained it to me but ive talked to a pro trainer and he said he started out when he was thirteen and he said i was exactly like him but now hes 13 but i was thinking mayb genetics?

multivitamins have no side effects what so ever... you might wana have 5 or 6 decent meals a day as well. Your point that bodybuilders need more nutrition is what has them take supp in the first place

Wouldnt worry about it. You are what you are. Heck, i'm 5'4, and I get women  haha... Don't worry about it. Im 15, your 13. Your taller than me. Dont worry, give yourself time to grow. I remember reading something about weight lifting stunting growth, and from what ive read, its a total myth. Arnold S. started to lift at a young age and look at him. You'll be fine.

I researched and learned from heath science class that weight training benifits teens. it accually makes stronger and heathier bones. height is all about genetics, my whole family is short but my great grand father was 6'5' and i'm 6'2", also my grandmother was 6' tall also (scary eh).
