I got bad stress fractures in both tibias last year from a combination of old (and i mean old) sneakers, running concrete stairs, and just plain overuse. I still get pain with weather changes, etc. and occassional shin splints. I tried orthotics, but haven't had any luck with them. I want to start running again, but am pretty nervous about it. Does anyone have any experience or advice?

Thanks Bud -- great site. Short of trying every preventative method in the world, I guess I'm going to have to suck up my fear and just take my chances they won't break again. Convincing myself that the pain I have is just bone ache and not break is a mind game!
