i do an hour long spinning class 3x a week. it's great cardio but it also incorporates a lot of resistance to challenge and work the leg muscles. my question is, is that enough to build muscle in my legs? Should i also incorporate weight training for them? (i already train my upper body) Would weight training be overkill?? i'm interested to hear what you all think...thanks!

It's not really enough. I think you would need weight exercises to get the mass going.

If your legs aren't sore the day after the spinning class, then it's probably not enough if you really want to build some muscle there. If your legs are sore (note: sore from _muscle_ use, not just from a lot of use), then it may be enough. But with all that cardio, it may take a while.
Try doing a weight workout for legs on a day that You DON'T have a spinning class that day or the next. Push hard enough that it will be a challenge & you have some soreness the next day. With all that spinning I wouldn't do a leg (weight) more than 1x week.
Try that for 4-6 weeks and see if that helps.
