Hey Guys ~
Has anyone tried supplementing a meal with Slim-Fast? I was watching "Oprah" and Bob Greene said it's a healthy way to cut calories. I was thinking of substituting dinner, since this seems to be where I like to eat more than I should. Has anyone tried this with results? :):dumbbell:

Buffy, I don't know how everyone else feels about this, but the slim fast optima to me appears to have little protien (10 g. per serving), 24 g. of carbs, 17 g. of sugar (yikes!), 6 g. of fat and 180 calories. I'm no expert, but I don't think that this would be sufficient for dinner in the protien category at least. Plus, (again, no expert) but with that amount of sugar, it would appear that a decent amount of the carbs in this drink are derived from sugar rather than good carbs! I would not personally recommend it.

buffychick, I tried using the slim-fast meal bars, and I did not find them helpful at all. Every morning I would have a bowl of cereal or yogert for breakfast, a piece of fruit as a snack, and a slim-fast meal bar for lunch. Replacing the meal bar with real food was a bad idea, because I would still be hungry afterwards, and end up eatting a huge dinner and often snacking afterwards in the evening. As amyksmith76 has mentioned, they were lacking in decent nutritional content and high in sugar.

From my personal experience, after about 2 months of using slim-fast, I did not loose any weight, and was a complete waste of money. You would definately be more satisfied by eatting real food for dinner. There are many low calorie/low fat meal option you can check out in the nutition section.
