My husband and I just started the FT program. I am a stay at home mom and am not used to getting up until 9 or 10:00. (I have a 33 month old and 14 month old and don't go to bed until 12 or 1 in the morning, this is the only time I can get my school work done, when they are asleep). My husband is a coach and is used to getting up 20 minutes before he has to be at work which means he gets up about 7:30. Since we have started the program, we both are getting up at 6 and working out. Both of our programs have us not training on Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday. Here is the argument. He thinks we need to sleep in on Wednesday since we are not training. I think that will mess us up as far as trying to get into a routine. He says he needs to rejuvenate, especially in the middle of the week to help him make it till Friday. Who is right? And, will getting up earlier get any easier after we do it for a while?

You need to maintain the same sleep schedule....Ideally this will make falling asleep and getting up easier and should improve the quality of sleep...so try to maintain a consistant pattern of sleep...whatever it may be...(perhaps it's different for each of you)...you each need 8-9 hours of sleep each night...anything less and you're becoming sleep deprived which adds up little by little and you will eventually experience significant drop in energy levels, alertness, faster fatigue set in, etc....
going to sleep at 1 and getting up at 6 is HORRIBLE....i don't care what age you are...that's not enough....work out during another part of the day....your husband I assume gets to bed earlier so he can continue...to get up at 6, you should consistantly get to bed no later than 10....otherwise forget about training and get the sleep...

Thanks for the help. Actually no, my husband has pretty much the same schedule as I do. I make fun of him alot because he complains about being tired. I tell him it is just him getting old. For some reason, I don't seem to get tired. Also, it is very difficult to get in bed by 10 and get 8-9 hours of sleep when you have a 1 year old and a two year old.

I understand...so then adjust your workout schedule....workout midday or evening....8-9 hours of sleep is ESSENTIAL.....I am sure you can workout with your husband so that he can watch the kids for an hour while you workout and vice versa....just a bit of compromising...great way of staying young longer....Lack of sleep is great way to age faster than even your age indicates...so sleep deprevation is something you want to avoid as much as possible....8 hours minimum is bottom line....seniors need as little as 6...but that's a while away for you...
