I have recently started a programme on this site but I am confused . Do you increase weight on the 2nd 3rd and 4th sets of each exercise as well as decreasing reps?????

Yes you should strive to add more weight with each set and the reps will decrease as your weight increases. Hope this helps.

I've only just begun too. I found it's best to start with very low weight or even empty bar, then work up to your max. I tried guessing what i could lift for each excersice and found i was failing on my first set. Better to complete the sets and learn the excercice then move up the weights.

Yes, you want to be able to complete your exercise using good form, otherwise you may injure yourself. Better to start of easy and work your way up not down.
