I'm new here and have never really exercised before. What is a set and what is a rep? Do you do the sets all at once?

A rep is just the exercise movement from start to finish.
For example, the bench press started with the arms locked holding the weight above you. Then you lower the weight to your chest and push it back up again. This is one rep.

A set is some number of reps. So lets say that that an exercise calls for 3 sets of 10.

One set of 10 reps
rest for 1-2 min
One set of 10 reps
rest for 1-2 min
One set of 10 reps
