Where did you get your information? As far as I know creatine is perfectly safe. There was a cancer scare not long ago but it turned out to be false.

well i have been on creatin off and on since i was a sophmore in highschool....and now i am a junior in college. i have not seen any adverse effects, but i guess that goes not mean that they are not there. I do have to make sure that i take straight creatin monohydrate though, because if there is sugar in it, i will get a horrible headache...but that is the sugar, not the creatin...

Yeah, I'd like to know where you read that too. It seems like ever since people started taking creatine for sports enhancement there has been a campain to get them to stop. Seizures are a new one on me. I don't think anyone has yet proved that it causes any serious or lasting damage to healthy individuals. But long term study is still lacking.

I have not had any adverse effects from using creatine on and off over the past couple of years, nor have I read anything linking seizures to this supplement (and I read almost as much as I workout!) Relax.

Hi kibs12 I have taken creatine a couple of times and I haven't had any side effects and I'm an old man. If it's going to show up on any one it would probably be me. Use it in moderation and you should be ok.

Afew years ago there was something about two boxers( i think) died, and this was blamed on creatine. The truth was that they trained in plastic bags wrapped round them , kept all windows shut and even worse drank no water for at least 2-3 hours i believe!!...Like someone said earlier for some reason they have tried to get it off the market. I have been taking creatine for a couple of years now and, have never had any such problems..Up your water intake and you'll be fine.

I can't confirm your story of creatines' cancer fighting ability. Still looking though. I can however tell you that creatine shows great promise in the battle against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrigs' Disease) Lou Gehrig himself died of this nuromuscular disease at age 37. Creatine is also being studied for benifical effects on othe forms of nuromuscular maladies. I did by the way find mention of seizures in connection with creatine use, but no specifics on this as yet. In other words no mention of the circumstances dictating the likelyhood of siezures. Still I'm not worried. People with kidney damage should not take it without their doctors consent/supervision.

My brother and a friend has been taking it for a few years now with no adverse effects. I have read alot of technical reports about it on the net and they all said it was safe as long as you stick by a recommended schedule and not over use it. Mostly the reports had to do with the effectiveness of it. That mostly relates to proper dosage and limiting your intake of caffeine in order to get the most out of it.

The use of suppliments with bodybuilding seems to be a target for all kinds of groups. Scientific or not.

My finance of one year has been taking creatine and he is - as we speak - at the hospital getting tests ran because he had 3 grand mal seizures less than one week ago. He has no history of seizures and so far the doctors have found nothing out of the ordinary. The creatine is the only thing that he has been taking that has some connection to seizures. If you do a search for creatine and seizures on google.com you will find lots of connections. Don't be stupid with this stuff.

Kibs I gues you will have to be your own judge. Do the research, lots of reports will speak for or against a supplement. Especially if it has anything to do with the natural process. From my understanding Althletes require a higher concentration of creatine.
It is our body's natural energy supply for the muscles and is formed from amino acides manufactured in the liver. Usually we supply additional creatine through out diet of meat and fish. However it does help build lean body mass, and provides energy for longer duration, and speeds recovery.
Again, you need to do the research and as the questions. SPeak to a nutritionist, and get there opinion.
