Guys... went to the doc's today and found i have got a rotater cuff injury! Gutted!

What should i do about my training? He said to leave doing weights totally... but i don't want to leave training.

Any suggestions? Or should i just 'suck eggs' and not train?

All the best,
Cymraeg

Cy, Had the injury and had the surgery 6 weeks ago. I have 8 more weeks of rehab and then can start over again. With Docs permission I have been train abs and legs during this time. It was very painful and very inconvenient.

Hey Cy, did the doc give you some exercises to do to rehab your rotator cuff, or complete rest? Is it bad enough to warrant surgery?

When you get the doctor's okay to lift again, you should start training your rotator cuff to prevent reinjuring it. Holding a weight in your hand and moving your arm in a full circle is the most comon exercise. Good thing muscle has memory so you can get back to the point you were at before you had to stop.

Vic... thankfully it's not bad enough to warrant any surgery. That was a relief.

... unbelievably due to the fact that the British healthcare system is totally screwed I would have to wait upto 5-6 months before i even START rehab!! I know tell me about it.
I will now have to go private.
Ravenwolf... i am goin to carry on training my lower half to be honest mate, he aint stopping me doing that. lol!

Thanks for your words so far guys... much appriciated,
Cy

I had a problem with mine last year and there was an exercise the trainer gave me to do, I will email it to you. I mostly had pain during any kind of press and laterals. He only had me lay off the exercises that caused discomfort, anything else was ok. After a couple months I started back, but light and working only below a pain level. Meaning if my laterals started hurting half way up then I went just below that. Eventually I was back to speed. Now when I start to feel even the slightest discomfort in my rotator, I do these exercises a few times and it helps a lot.

my right shoulder gets dislocated whenever i try to , for example throw a cricket ball fast..it sux, i can never play cricket to my full potential again. the moment i draw my right arm behind the shoulder/body plane(this happens fast when im about to throw the ball), the jerk causes my right shoulder to dislocate. i can throw a ball at moderate speed, but can never throw it as fast as i can.
i really dont beleive in lifting small weights to stabilize the shoulder, i always feel it will dislocate again unless i have surgery.
