I'm stuck, I can go for 3 sets of ten and one set of 6-7, when I'm doing most of my lifting. If I add 5 pounds, I'm lucky if I can get 8-9 in any of my sets. Should I do more reps or just what I can do with more weight?

What are your goals bro?

If you want to build gains gradual.. then you stick with 8-12 reps.. if you want to bulk and strength it.. then 6-8 even as low as 4 for your last sets.

I am 22, 6', I started lifting seriously in August 2000 or so I was at 163 now I'm 188, but I want to get to 200-210 and 20" arms are my goals. I dont seem to hurt after working out, but with more reps I feel it. I'm not sure what to do?

It all depends on what you're looking for. If you want to get more strength then you're going to have to push it. I'd have to agree with
.o0 Arnold 0o. but it all depends on what you want.

Hey deadman...I'm 22 and about 6' aswell
when I first started working out 8 years ago..the load ,out of everything else, puzzled me..I asked a lot of people about it and most of them told the same thing..what you need to do is stick with your rep range..let it be 10-12 depending on your goal..but always try to do more reps every workout..once your able to do more reps then that means you ought to add weight...I usually add weight every 2 months or so depending on the machine or exercise. You wana keep the weight moderate at all times for ab exercises like the crunch machine..and keep it low for wrist curls and reverse ones..the forearms are small and can't withstand ALOT of weight...
hope I helped

Ya, that info was great! That is pretty much what I thought but it is good to see some one else say it to verify if the way I work out is right. The last thing I want to do is hurt or hold back my potential. I just thought that more weight and less reps was just to get through there workout but now I know the difference! Oh, by the way, when you started lifting how big were you then? I bet that is why you started working out, at least it was for me. Now I can start breaking people! LOL!!

when doing sets of: 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1. what percentage of your max do you do for each set. I want to make sure I'm using enough weight?
