Why is it that people think that body builders look disgusting, but everyone wants to work out.

they probably think its abnormal or tooo huge for a normal person to look, lets say, Markus Ruhl for example...but everybody has his point of view...

Not sure - I have a friend who told me last week that he wanted to start working out but he was afraid of getting too muscley. I told him there was no immediate danger of that happening since he hasn't been off the couch since Sienfeld started re-running!

The other funny thing about this is that these people who are afraid to get too many muscles don't realize how much work it takes. If they did they might not be too worried about that happening to them.

Gee! I'm not sure but I think sitting on the couch watching T.V. all day is a mass building program in its own right. Just add 12 oz curls and chip dips and you too can grow as big as a house!

People look at bodybuilders and say "that's gross, I'd never want to be that big"... Then they start working out saying "I'll just get bigger, but then I'll stop" - the thing that they don't realize is... you can't stop. You will keep training until you reach your body's potential, because you look better, you feel better, you get more confidence, people notice you more; everything about working out and having a more muscular, lean body is good.

Then, once you reach that level, you will keep training to maintain it. When you stop training, and you see your gains start to go, you feel sad, so you get back in the gym. Working out is more than a sport, it's a way of life, and once someone is introduced to it there is no turning back. People just need someone to introduce them to seeing training the way we all do...

Adrian, You hit the nail on the head. I have to agree. Once someone experiences the awsome feeling of being in great shape, s/he will never want to turn back to being a stuffed porker.

I love the way people look at me.

I think it may be part misinformation/stereo types and part sour grapes. Who in their right mind wouldn't want to be in good shape, have tons of energy, be stronger than the average bear, and stay young and lean while everyone else grows old? I'm an old man but girls (way to young for me) still yell out of their cars as they pass by. That feels pretty good! Bodybuilding is the best thing since peanut butter!

lol...It's just an old saying. I guess when peanut butter was invented people thought it was "the cats meow" hench the saying "best thing since peanut butter" came about when any thing new and cool hit. Don't ask about the cats' meow!

It's kind of like the "Bee's knees".
