with this lifting program am i supposed to increase the weight as my reps decrease (in the same workout)? also, what is the difference between intermediate and advanced? thanks!

Hello. I have never been involved with anything like this before either, the postings, etc. However, I have enjoyed this experience immensely. It is an incredible site from the perspective of setting and reaching physical goals.

About your workout, which one are you doing? Yes, you should increase the weight as your reps decrease, in the same workout (and for each exercise). Add just enough so that you can finish your sets, and each week attempt more. Do you have a partner? I find that it is much more beneficial if you have someone to help/spot/encourage you in resistance training.

As for the difference between intermediate and advanced I will defer to someone who has done both here. I can tell you a little about what I have read here, and that is that the Advanced workouts are extremely challenging, demanding and progressively difficult. They are designed for people (generally,who have finished and intermediate or beginner Free Trainer workout here already) who are stuck or that have reached a plateau as you have suggested. Since you have kinda done your own thing, I would go intermediate here then try the advanced.

I did intermediate for a long time until I was sure that my form on some (not all yet.. soon maybe) exercises had improved some.. Once it did and I had an idea of what most of the exercises were I bumped myself up to advanced and the reps still seemed to stay about the same for most exercises (which also would depend on the program you signed up for) but there were just some different exercises used in my program that weren't there before. An example would be my chest workout.. before I would always get decline work to do but when I changed to advanced I pretty much always get either straight arm pullovers or machine pullovers instead of declines... hope that helps...

As far as the mass programs are concerned, you cannot choose the 12-week program unless you choose "advanced." You can, however, do the 8-week mass program at both levels.

ok, thanks guys. i actually don't have a partner to workout with. i go to the gym with a couple friends, but they mainly do cardio. they would spot me if i asked, but it's not the same and we don't always go together.

Personally I would have to say that having a partner is the single biggest advantage you can have. That has been my experience. TRY and find someone who shares your committments. Hit it hard in the mean time.

if u workout in winter u beter take big weight to work on mass,in summer though u better take light weight and do reps as much as u can,it will work on ur body's shape.
