So yeh i just purchased my first tub of protein powder, and i must say it tastes totally foul.
The powder contains 17.3g protein per 20g scoop, im having troubble weighing out 20g because the scoop didnt come with it, i've just been putting in a heaped tablespoon.... :S
What i wanted to know was...what time is best to use this stuff?
Before work out? After? Both?
How many times day is it healthy to consume the shake?
I've been told u should mix it with water insted of milk, is this right?
heh sorry for the ignorance but its all kinda new to me....and is there anything to stop the horrible taste?!

Maybe the scoop is buried?
I mix mine with Soymilk ( omega-e,calcium,fat free)
I like chocolate flavour, can't stand vanilla.
I use two diff kinds of protein powders.
pre-workout 1 hr before
I go to gym between 4-6 and need energy
post workout 30 min after
- I read that it is important to get protein after a workout.

im just an advocate of using it after. take it immediately postworkout.. 1/4 of your bodyweight in grams (ie you weigh 200 lbs.. take 50 gr). take it immediately postworkout mixed with water.. mixing with milk slows absorption, and this is the time you want it in your system the fastest.
personally, i think carbs are more important before a workout. get some protein in you, of course, to protect muscle breakdown during the workout, but protein is not going to serve any energy fulfillment. something like a pb and j (good complex carbs, healthy fats, good protein), whole grain cereal and milk, oatmeal and egg whites.. whatever works for you. protein shakes are still an option here too, but i just think you can save some money and skip it preworkout.
