I heard two versions of this...does it vary dependin on the exercise (ex.weight training vs. running vs. studying for class)??
Do you push your abomen? out as your breathe in (inhale) or do you pull your stomach/abomen in? What about exhaling? I heard you can live longer and flow more blood if you do option A ...
Thae most important factor in breathing is that you do it, cosistantly & often. When training the key is to keep your breathing comfortable & rythmic & try not to hold your breath for extended periods of time during a lift(although sometimes holding a breath momentarily can be benifitial) As for the effect of abdominal contractions increasing lung capacity this is new to me. THe important thing to remember is even if you do increas lung capacity only a small amount of oxygen is able to pass into the blood each breath anyway, this amount is reffered to as your VO2 max. VO2 max is increased through aerobic conditioning & is a direct indication of cardiovascular efficiency. BY increasing your VO2 max your body wil get more oxygen to the blood with each breath therefore increasing health & life expectancy.
