Since baked potatoes have a high GI Index, would we be better off eating them after a workout with a protein shake instead of dirnking a sugary soft drink?

Sure, that's a perfect time. Your body needs the potassium and carbs, so why not?!?! Chicken breast and potatoes is one of my favorite post-workout meals (I usually call it breakfast!).

Try using maltodextrin or dextrose. Much better choices... they are at the top of the GI index. You want to have a liquid post workout drink since it will be absorbed much quicker, and have a meal or shake about an hour afterwards.
