My Shoulders are popping and snapping when I do Side laterals. I'm not doing alot of weight (15 lbs) and I stretch my shoulders out real good before excersising. Is the popping normal or am I doing something wrong?
Thx, Nate

Actually, I'm doing 10 lbs. Guess weight lifting is kinda like an old timer telling a fishing story. First time it's a 6' bluegill, next time it's a 15' big mouth. 8)

Hey Nate - I think you're going to be asked for more info. Are you lifting or swinging the weight up? Is the popping in your rotator cuff?

Well, I thought I was lifting but maybe I'm swinging more than I think. I'll concentrate more on lifting. Where, it is? Not sure, probably the rotator cuff. It feels like it's in the middle of my shoulder. It doesn't hurt or anything. Oh, and it's both left and right sides.

Hmmmm.. might be bad or maybe not.. get it checked out.
I have a pop in my elbow when I extend it.. but it's ok.

I would get it checked to be on the safe side, but my shoulders pop, but it is because I am double jointed and for the longest time I didn't know why they popped because it didn't hurt either.

Well, I do think I might have been swinging a bit. I lowered the weight and slowed down. I get a better burn now but they both are popping nearly every rep.

I had the exact same problem but mine popped when i did barbell upright rows. went to the doctor and he told me i was doubled jointed. I am guessing that you could be too.

When I went in to have minor surgery on my thumb I asked my ortho surgeon the same question. He specialized in sports medicine before joining the Army. He told me that it is normal in a lot of people and to not worry about it unless it causes any pain. If it hurts you might want to get it checked out.
