Hi All - I'm new to this so please forgive me if I'm covering old territory - but I need some advice - I'm 48 years old and by no means overweight ( I'm 5'8 and weigh about 116 lbs ) - my problem is I have this poochy thing going on just below my navel that I just cannot get rid of - I do cardio for 40 min 5-6 times a week and full body workouts 3 times a week but it just won't go!! I assume it's diet but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong ... I'd also like to put on some more weight but whenever I do it goes right to the middle..... Help!!

When you say "full body workout " what are you doing besides the cardio?
BTW welcome to freetrainers.

Have you looked at your Protein-carb and fat ratio? Protein intake will play a big part in helping you burn more calories and help you put on lean weight (muscle). Sounds lke you have to really look at your food intake. What is your diet like? Do you do any ab work? If you want email me on here.

I have the EXACT same problem and my height/weight are the same too. In my family it's definitely genetic because both my grandparents and mom have bulgy tummies although they are not fat at all. I think we have to really watch what and HOW MUCH we eat, beacuse it seems that if I eat more than a small portion than it bulges so bad that I look 9 months pregnant!! So yea, i think like the others said, we should watch our fat/carb/protein ratio. It's hard though cuz I really watch what I eat as it is (ALMOST always) so I'm not sure what else to do. Any advice? Well, good luck!!It's the Battle of the Bulge!!We must win! :)
