I am currently working 5 days a week at home at night. It's the only option I have with 2 small kids at home. I workout after they go to bed for 45 minutes each time. I alternate between the treadmill and either Tae Bo or Carmen Electra's Strip To Fit #2 dvds. When I get on the treadmill I go 3.9 mph with an incline of 5.5.
I lost 20 pounds before I started working out over a 3 month period. I have 15 more pounds to go and have hit plateau after plateau since I started working out over 3 months ago. I am definitely losing less now that I'm working out but I'm noticing changes to my muscles/body.
I keep reading about this HIIT (?) and strength/weight training and how this is more important than cardio. How do I do this? Am I getting any of this out of the videos I'm already doing? I really like them and alternating them with the treadmill is working really well, but I'm not seeing much change in weight. Any help is much appreciated.

HIIT cardio (High Intensity Interval Training) The difference to regular cardio is that instead of going at the same speed for 30 min. or so, you go as fast as you can for about 1 min. then at moderate speed for 2 min. then fast 1 min. then moderate for 2 min. and so on. Start with a 3 min. warm up and end with a 3 min. cool off. You can do 30 sec. intervals also and work yourself up from there. Or do shorter moderate intervals. You can do this anywhere (walking/running outside, eliptical trainer, stationary bike, skipping rope........) Doing HIIT instead of regular cardio makes a huge difference, try it! :)

Thank you. I guess I will try it on my treadmill, then. How many times a week should I do this? I really like to incorporate my tapes too so Do I do the HIIT on the treadmill like 3 days a week and my tapes 2 days a week? Or what?

Do you do weight training also? If so, don't do HIIT more than 2-3 times a week and I also wouldn't do any other exercises on those days. If you choose not to do any weights than I would go with 3 times a week HIIT and 2 days your tapes.:)

No I don't do any weight training. I guess I don't know where to start with it (blushing). I do think I have some 2 or 3 pound weights in the basement I could get out. I just don't know what to do with them. I have seen a tremendous amount of toning in my muscles just doing the video workouts I do so I thought I was covering all the basis but I guess not.

That may be enough for now, but to see more progress you'll need to switch things up a bit. If you only do the tapes after a while your body will get used to it and a lot more efficiant at doing those exercises. When that happens your body won't have to work as hard to do them and burn a lot less fat. I would throw in some weightlifting exercises. (Mon.= weights; Tue.= HIIT, Wed.= video; Thur.= HIIT; Fri.= weights; Sat.= video; Sun.= REST) There are some great workout routines on this website. Just go to the top of the page and click on Exercise Programs. You can customize them to fit your needs. Hope this helps:big_smile:
