I've been researching options as to whom to get my Personal Trainer Certification from either ACE or ISSA. I personally like the fact of convenience & online support that ISSA has to offer, as well as the home exam option.

Do they both basically have the same material to be studied? I am a little intimidated by all the medical terminology.

Thanks!

I just finished my certification through ISSA. It is a great program due to the fact that you can do everything on-line. And honestly, there isn't a whole lot of medical terminology. I am going to college for exercise science and technology, and I have yet to run into a whole lot of terminology there as well. Don't be intimidated.

Did you attend the weekend seminar & then test there, or did you take the exam at home?

I've read through the ISSA study book (quite thick) and the first few chapters make me feel like I'll need to memorize every part of anatomy of the human body.

I took the course on-line. You won't have to be that scientific when you take the exam. It is pretty straight forward, they really make it easy for somebody to pass.

only waste time and money on courses that give you what you can use. like if it's a personal trainer you want to be, is the certificate a recognised pass to employment in the industry, ie does your local employers in the field accept the credentials you want to study or are you going to pass a course that nobody sees as a real diploma?
other than that it's simple, do you like on-line study or college interaction best? if you look for what's easiest to pass then the qualification is bound to be worthless.

ISSA is recognized and accepted around the world and is a very good certification organization.

From the loads of research I've done, along with knowing people in the field of Personal Training whom utilized ISSA for their certification I think it'll be quite a worthwhile investment.

ebabe, trust me, it is well worth it. If I sounded like it is very easy, I apoligize, but I am going to college for the same thing, although a little more in depth. ISSA is a very good organization. I hope you decide to go with ISSA and good luck. Feel free to ask any questions.

I'm going to be getting a NSCA CSCS, as soon as Amazon gets me the blasted book. The things been delayed twice and it won't get here til May! The CSCS is definately very technical, though.
