I tore away my cartilage on my knees by doing hack squats with too much weight. I had arthroscopic surgery 6 mo ago to scrape away the shredded pieces, but now i'm pretty much bone on bone with the knees. I've always been very athletic. I'm only 33 yrs. old, but feel like i'm 90. My knees pop & crack to the point of burning. I have to go down the stairs sideways b/c my knees shake. My doc says to take it easy; nothing over 90 degrees, hard pounding, or squats. I'm sure the pain in my knees is heightened b/c I have weak leg muscles. How do I build quads, hams, and glutes w/o straining my knees? Supplements help only to a certain degree. There has to be someone out there, at a fitness level with this condition. Please help--horribly depressed. My dream is to compete, but how do you shape up with bad knees?
