I find it hard to overtrain my abs. When I work them, they are usually sore for 2 days after, so I only train them twice a week. I find that even chinups can leave them sore for a couple of days. I think its due to the stabilisation and stretch they provide, but this only happens when I do about 50 in 4 sets

3 muscles in the body need really good stimulation in order to grow..Calves, abs and fore-arms..so doing abs every day is excellent..people scared sometimes that their abs might over grow and look like a fat belly..but as you mentioned that you do weighted abs training for only twice aweek..your abs won't over grow..they will just tighten up and harden giving you an amazing mid-section look

You will know you r overdoing it when you see your muscle mass decreasind....this is called catabolic state where your body starts eating up your muscles to maintain its normal metabolism.
I suggest you find out your own limit.....and when you think you maybe overdoing it, just give it a good few days rest.

my understanding is that because the abs consist of such a large group of muscles you can work them out everyday. Of course with in reason.

A few sets of crunches
A few sets of leg lifts. A couple others for you "Love Handles"

I maybe wrong
