I have a lot of weight to lose (weighing in at 260 lbs), and I am doing both cardio and strength training. I am trying to become more active, but I find myself out of breath pretty early into a workout. Even after going up two flights of stairs, or 2 minutes into a jog, I am out of breath, and have a heart rate of 150 BPM.
What can I do?

First, congratulations and welcome here. How long have you been at it?
The suggestions I could make are; hang around here and make friends. They will encourage you and cheer you on when you have a bad one.
Fill out your profile. It's hard to give specific advice without a little knowledge of you.
Keep going,
How have you changed your eating habits?
Presuming here the doc says it's ok to do it too. I don't know how old you are.

I'm no authority on cardio as I am trying to gain muscle.
But just to give you some perspective, I am 5' 9" 155lb now, but even when I was 145 I would get out of breath rather quickly into my workouts.
For me it seemed an initial response to the exercise, because i would become a little more relaxed as I pushed through the intial shortness of breath, somewhere after 5 minutes-ish.
260 is alot of weight to be moving!
The best I can recommend is to warm into it slowly.
I honestly am not sure but 150bpm seems on the low side so don't think you are through the roof there, I have gotten up to 180 for 10 mins. and even feel 150 can be uncomfortable at first on most workouts.
I think you'll gradually build a better tolerance but make sure to talk to your doctor, and maybe get a stress test?
Hope it works for ya!
