I was rear ended a few years ago and still suffer from pain in the side of my neck from time to time. My question is, short of not doing weight lifting, how can I strengthen those neck muscles so I don't get the pain when I lift more than 15lbs?

It is really a tough question to answer. Neck rotations maybe?
