I'm not a big person on stretching never have, I do excercises that stretch me and work out a muscle at the same time( stiff leged deadlifts for example) But besides that I don't really stretch much. Guess its a endomorphic thing lol I'm flexable enough naturlally for working out so much that my muscle are accumstomed to that range of motion ex. so iIdon't get injured if I do its a sprain or somthing never a strain or pull.........I was wonder by not majorly stretching my muscles can this effect my growth and strength potential? I'm a big believer if its not broke don't fix it, i was just curious if it makes that big a differance.

I think that stretching can help recovery, thus may play a part in muscle growth.

I do light stretching before my workouts, and have seen muscle mass improvement, but not sure if the two are linked, I am kind-a like you, I consider my run a strech, and some of my exercises. Kind-a curious to see what other people have to say.

From what I have read, muscle strength, size and stretching are all definately linked.
Think of range of motion. If the muscle has less range of motion, it makes sense that it won't be able to lift as much as possible, therefore decreasing potential strength gains, which in turn affects size.
Personally, I really don't enjoy stretching, but it is a necessary evil for sure! :)

however shorter muscle attachments inable you to lift more? I thought I read that some where?

by the way my range of motion is good, i'm just not flexable............I go parallel sometimes below on squats, all the way down and up on curls, ON bench i touch my chest, then go no bouncing.......I can almost get my arm son the flor when I do flys( about 7 in)light light weight

Here is a research study I saw a few years back out of the Sports Institute of Innsbruk Austria:
Two test groups.
They were matched on many characteristics.
They were trained over an 8 week period using the same program.
1 group warmed up lifted and stretch after. 1 group warmed up and lifted no stretch.
The group that stretched after was 19% stronger in measured lifts after the 8 weeks. Seems pretty significant to me.
