I find that I only eat later at night, like around 10pm-12am. I don't eat much during the day, and I know that isn't good, but I never find my self hungery during the day at all. I usually always get up around 10am with my kids. I can go all day with out eating and not have a problem, only once in awhile I will have to eat something if my sugar gets to low. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to change this around. I have been on this ritual for awhile and I just can't seem to break my self from this.

Getting up at 10am is where I would start. As you stated your kids too get up at 10am ? Why?
Get out of bed at a reasonable time eh? Something normal like 7am or latest 8am.
Secondly, you must eat breakfast upon rising. Scrambled egg on toast, muesli, oats or a bagel with cream cheese and salmon- Anything, but you must do it like religion.
Eating especially with a good protein(egg, salmon, etc...) kick starts a faster running metabolism. Good for muscle gain and for fat loss.
Don't even think about your sugar level as you honestly aint no Doctor, so how would you know what state your sugar level is? Avoid sugar and poor carbs like white bread, rice etc. Get wholemeal and don't add sugar to anything- Why do you want rapid surges of fat inducing sugar that slows the metabolism? Get wholemeal bread and peanut butter or sardines. A nice wholewheat pasta is so tasty with a good meat sauce..
Start a good system of setting out 3 or more small meals a day at regular times. Have a last bed time snack of protein alone as you will feel fuller for longer- like a peice of chicken, lamb, pork, eggs or go for fruit and veg.
You don't say if you are fat or thin or inbetween?

But anyway a well supported metabolism for either weight gain or loss is scientifically best with six small well balanced meals a day- Er and dare I say everybody does know this in there heart.

I have been trying to get up early in the morning, lately I have been trying a lot harder to do so. My kids usually don't get up before 10am. With regards to my sugar levels I know for sure that I am hypogylcemic, doctor told me so, I know when my sugar gets low, I test it. About my metabolism, I don't have a thyroid anymore, so my daily metabolism I get through a medication. So my medication tells me how much I can do. I am 5'7 and 161 lbs. I would consider myself inbetween. I will take some of your ideas with the food though. Thanx

Hi, Lilah. Try eating light stuff when you feel like eating after 8pm. Like fruits with a lot of water and fiber content like strawberries and melon (not banana). Or have a protein drink with skim milk or soy milk. Then, try to eat relatively heavy the first thing in the morning. Try to eat at least 3 things for breakfast like oatmeal, eggs and fruits.
Another thing, when do you exercise? Try to do them before you eat lunch. If you do them in the evening you likely to have harder time sleeping earlier and feel hungrier at night.

It is really essential to eat throughout the day whether your are hungry or not. 5-6 small meals a day will keep your metabolism going and your blood glucose levels up and even. I used to go most of the day without eating until late....I would get dizzy and have headaches and become quite shaky (all due to low glucose levels). Then I trained myself to get up extra early to make sure I ate breakfast (I used to get nauseaus if I ate just after getting up). Then again I used to be over 230lbs. I now eat 5-6 small meals a day. At work I bring low cal protein bars (150-170cals...ie small Detour or Joyride bars) or some fruit and cottage cheese, to munch on as a mid morning snack or a mid afternoon snack.
Good luck!!

For late-night snacks try eating Celery. It has basically no cals or fat and it contains mostly water, and it a great source of fibre.

Well... i would suggest fruits before going to bed or a few hours after you ate dinner... thats what my doctor told me when I start losing weight.

You really gotta be careful with fruits before bed crazy, a lot are full of sugars you don't need at that time.

I am with you on your eating habits, lilah. I usually go until noon or so before I eat, I get up at 6am. I have recently tried to have something like a carnation instant breakfast in the morning, helps me not drink coffee, I put way too much sugar in it. But i think that anything you eat in the morning should be better than nothing. I am probably wrong, as I am just starting out like you, but good luck eating better.

Why no coffee? bb1's posted numerous threads showing the benefits of it.
